When workflows are defined in a more declarative or structured way, it becomes easier for both engineers and non-engineers to align on what the system is supposed to do, especially when compensating transactions and failure states are involved. That alone can reduce a lot of hidden complexity.
That said, the real test is always how these definitions integrate with the rest of the stack — observability, analytics, and downstream business tracking. Without that layer, even well-defined workflows can become hard to validate in production.
In some cases, teams extend this by connecting execution flows to marketing and attribution systems so they can actually measure business impact of specific processes end-to-end.
