Can I overwrite a -possibly- corrupted WhatsApp backup?

I don’t know if the backup is actually corrupted or not, but the new phone won’t let me restore the backup after redoing several times; I figured maybe I’m doing something wrong, like maybe I should free more space in my phone or something (it originally was full, I’ve uninstalled a bunch of apps after the first failed attempt but still got no success).
Also, I did the backups without having the phone in my number but still having access to the account, once the restoring failed I did the backup again with the number in my phone this time, but the restoring still didn’t work. I was wondering if me doing the backup without the number could be the cause of this issue and if there’s a way to fix it.

Additionally, I know there’s no tag for WhatsApp but I’d like to know if transferring the chats would be a safer option given that even if I manage to restore the backup I don’t know if everything will be showing on the new phone (I’ve managed to keep access on my current phone to the account and all the chats and files despite the failed backup attempts). Transferring the data I fear I may get logged out and lose it all or most of it if corrupted stuff also affects the transference.
