Can I turn off the elastic scroll behavior in Figma prototypes?

I’m working on a prototype in Figma and noticed there’s this elastic bouncing animation that happens when you scroll to the end of content in the preview mode. It’s really annoying and doesn’t match the actual app behavior I’m trying to simulate.

I’ve looked through the prototype settings but can’t seem to find any option to disable this bounce effect. Has anyone figured out how to remove this scrolling animation in Figma’s prototype viewer? I need the scrolling to feel more natural without the rubber band effect.

Any help would be appreciated since this is affecting how stakeholders perceive the final product during presentations.

Nope, there’s no toggle to turn off elastic scroll in Figma’s prototype viewer. It’s been bugging designers forever. The bounce effect is baked into Figma’s scrolling and affects every prototype. Here’s what I’ve found that helps: adjust your frame constraints and content positioning so users don’t hit scroll boundaries as much during testing. You can also use overflow scrolling interactions instead of relying on default behavior. I usually just mention this upfront in stakeholder presentations - explain it’s a tool limitation, not a design choice. Most clients get it once you clarify that. Some teams I know switched to Principle or ProtoPie when they need better scroll control.

Yeah, Figma still hasn’t fixed this - I’ve dealt with it for two years now. It’s super annoying when you’re prototyping mobile apps since scroll behavior actually matters. Here’s what works for me: I set explicit scroll boundaries in my designs instead of letting content spill past frame edges. Cuts down on that bounce effect when people test it. You can also use smart animate between frames rather than overflow scrolling - takes more work but you get full control. For important client demos, I just record the prototype as video so I don’t have to deal with the elastic scroll at all.

yeah, super frustrating - I’ve dealt with this forever too. one workaround that helps: create fixed position overlays to mask the bounce areas. not perfect, but hides the elastic effect during demos. also, set your prototype device to match your actual target platform. sometimes that makes it way less noticeable.

Nope, you’re stuck with it - Figma doesn’t let you disable elastic scrolling in prototypes. I’ve dealt with this for months. Here’s what I do: make content areas slightly shorter than the frame so users don’t hit scroll boundaries as much. When I need to show exact scrolling behavior, I create multiple artboards and use click interactions to fake the scroll states manually. Takes more time but you get precise control over what stakeholders see. Also try present mode instead of prototype preview - the scrolling feels a bit different, though not much better.
