I was going through some legal documents and evidence files on KG’s Google Drive link earlier this morning. Everything was working fine and I could view all the court papers and proof materials without any issues. However, when I tried to access the same drive again a few hours later, I got an error message saying the content is no longer available. The entire Google Drive folder seems to have been removed or made private. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I really need to reference those documents for my research. Does anyone know if there’s a backup location or alternative way to access these files? I’m not sure if this is a temporary problem or if the drive was permanently taken down.
yea, i got that error too! seems like the drive may be gone or locked up. realy hope KG can fix it or share a backup link asap.
same thing happened to me around 3pm yesterday - drive got nuked. usually means google got complaints or the owner freaked out and pulled everything down. kg might reupload it somewhere else but could take weeks. pretty common with sensitive stuff like this.
Same thing happened to me three weeks ago with a different collection - owner got hit with a takedown request. Google Drive yanks links fast when there’s legal pressure. When drives disappear suddenly like this, they almost never come back at the same spot. The owner usually has to find new hosting or distribute files differently. I’d check forums where KG hangs out - they sometimes post new links or backup locations there. Also try reaching out to other researchers who had the same materials. Smart ones backup important docs before they vanish.
Same thing happened to me yesterday around noon. Drive worked fine in the morning, then completely gone by afternoon. This looks like someone either pulled it deliberately or changed the privacy settings - doesn’t feel like a tech issue. I’ve seen this before with document collections. They often get moved to more secure platforms or different hosts when there’s too much traffic or legal heat. Check KG’s main channels and social media - they might’ve posted something about moving the files. Sometimes important docs show up on alternative platforms later, though I can’t point you to specific ones. If you really need this stuff for research, your best bet is contacting KG directly through their official channels to get access back or find out where it moved.
This is exactly why I set up automated backups the second I find important documents. Same thing happened to me last year - critical project files just vanished from a shared drive overnight.
You need something that monitors these drives and backs them up before they disappear. I built a workflow that checks shared drives every few hours and copies everything locally. Works perfectly.
It monitors drive status, grabs new files, and alerts me if access gets cut off. Would’ve saved you this whole mess.
Building this kind of system is pretty straightforward. Set it to check multiple backup spots too - if the main drive dies, it searches other sources and pings you when new links show up.
Next time you find important docs, get automated backup running right away. This won’t be the last time this happens.
