Categorizing Items in HubSpot Quotes: A Grouping Challenge

Hey everyone,

I’m stuck with a tricky situation in HubSpot. I’ve got this product setup where each item has a ‘Product Category’ field. It can be stuff like ‘Category X’, ‘Category Y’, or ‘Category Z’.

Now, I’m trying to make quotes look neat by grouping all the products under their categories. Ideally, I want to see all the items from one category together, with a subtotal for each group. Then at the bottom, I’d have the grand total.

I’ve been digging around HubSpot’s quote templates, but no luck finding a built-in way to do this. I even tried making custom line items and sections by hand in the quote editor. But man, that’s a pain for big quotes!

Has anyone figured out a way to make this happen? Maybe there’s some customization trick or a bit of code that could help? Or am I missing some feature in HubSpot that does this?

Any ideas would be awesome. Thanks!

hey sophiac, i feel ur pain! hubspot can be tricky. have u tried using the custom properties feature? u could make a property for each category and use that to group items. it’s not perfect but might help. also, check out the hubspot community forums - sometimes ppl share cool workarounds there. good luck!

I’ve encountered a similar issue in my work with HubSpot quotes. Unfortunately, there’s no built-in functionality for automatic categorization as you’ve described. One workaround I’ve found somewhat effective is utilizing custom modules in the quote template. By creating a module for each category and using HubL to filter products, you can achieve a semblance of grouping. It requires some coding knowledge and isn’t perfect, but it’s more scalable than manual organization. Another option worth exploring is integrating a third-party quoting tool that offers more advanced grouping features. These solutions often come with their own challenges, but might be worth investigating for your specific needs.
