Hey everyone! I’ve got a big collection of old radio shows on my cloud storage. It’s mostly Ron and Fez stuff I grabbed from the web archive. I organized it all to make it easier to find and download.
There’s also a bunch of Opie and Anthony episodes, especially ones with Patrice and Louis CK. I’ve got some Norm MacDonald live too, plus Matt and Shane’s podcast. Oh, and there’s this cool thing where Paul O talks about his movie Gap with Louis.
I’m still adding more shows from 2012. If you spot any folders that look empty, give me a shout. And if you’ve got any shows I’m missing, I’d love to add them to the collection. Let’s keep these classics alive!
I’d suggest looking into some of the classic BBC comedy shows from the 60s and 70s. ‘I’m Sorry I’ll Read That Again’ is a personal favorite - it’s where many of the Monty Python crew got their start. The wordplay and sketches are still hilarious today.
Another one worth checking out is ‘Round the Horne’. It’s a bit more niche, but the innuendo and clever writing were groundbreaking for its time. You might also want to explore some of the old-time radio dramas like ‘The Shadow’ or ‘Dragnet’ to round out your collection.
If you’re interested in more recent content, ‘This American Life’ has a massive archive that’s worth diving into. Their storytelling approach has influenced a lot of modern podcasts.
I’ve been down a similar rabbit hole with classic radio shows. One hidden gem I stumbled upon was ‘The Goon Show’ from the BBC. It’s this absurdist comedy series from the 1950s that heavily influenced Monty Python. Spike Milligan’s writing is absolutely brilliant.
Another recommendation would be ‘Suspense’, if you’re into old-school thriller radio dramas. Some episodes feature big Hollywood stars of the time, which adds an interesting layer.
Have you considered branching out into some of the early NPR stuff? ‘Car Talk’ might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but those guys had a unique chemistry that’s hard to replicate. Just some thoughts to potentially diversify your collection. Keep up the great archival work!
yo, thats a sweet collection youve got goin! have u thought about addin some stern show stuff? those old episodes with artie lange are comedy gold. Or maybe some loveline with adam carolla n dr drew? Just throwin out ideas to expand ur already awesome archive. keep up the good work man!
