Went through this exact decision last year when we replaced our legacy integration setup. Here’s what I learned implementing three of these platforms:
Mulesoft’s the heavyweight champion. We used it for a massive enterprise client and it handled everything we threw at it. But unless you’re dealing with super complex B2B scenarios or need enterprise-level support, you’re paying for features you won’t use.
Boomi surprised me. The learning curve everyone complains about? It’s just getting used to their visual mapping interface. Once your team gets it, they move fast. We connected 15 different systems and cloud deployment was smooth.
Workato’s solid for automation-heavy stuff. If you want to move data AND automate business processes, that’s where it shines. We built complex approval workflows that tied into our CRM and ERP.
For mid-sized companies connecting CRM, ERP, and marketing tools, I’d lean toward Boomi or Workato. Both handle standard integrations well and won’t break your budget like Mulesoft.
