Comparing Popular Automation Platforms - What's Your Go-To Choice?

Hey everyone! I’m trying to decide between different automation platforms and would love to get some opinions from people who actually use them. I’ve been testing out various no-code tools like n8n, Make.com, and Zapier but I’m having trouble picking the right one for my needs.

What I’m really curious about is which platform you guys think works best for building workflows that can handle growth over time. Are you more concerned about cost effectiveness, how customizable the workflows are, the number of app connections available, or how fast everything runs?

I’d appreciate hearing about your real world experiences with any of these tools. What made you stick with your current choice? Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts!

Honestly, n8n’s been my go-to for the past year. It’s open source so you can self-host and save a ton of money long-term. Learning curve’s steeper than Zapier, but once you get it down, you can do pretty much anything. Plus no vendor lock-in, which is huge for me.

I’ve used Make.com for automation for two years now, and their visual workflow builder is fantastic. Started with Zapier but hit pricing walls fast as my needs grew. Make.com’s way cheaper at higher volumes. The debugging feature’s my favorite part - you can track workflows step by step. Super helpful when stuff breaks. Sure, they don’t have as many app integrations as Zapier, but they keep adding new ones and the API connections are solid. Performance has been rock solid for me.

I’ve tried several platforms over three years and stuck with Zapier despite the price. The reliability sold me - only two failures in eighteen months of heavy use. When you’re running critical business stuff, that uptime’s worth it. Plus their app ecosystem crushes everyone else, especially for newer SaaS tools others haven’t added yet. Tried n8n for six months and loved the customization, but I was spending way too much time babysitting infrastructure instead of running my business. Sometimes paying premium just makes sense when your time’s valuable.
