Hey everyone! I’m working on a survey using Google Forms and I’m stuck. Is there a way to make some questions appear only when a person picks a certain answer?
For example, I want to ask if someone likes ice cream. If they say ‘No’, I’d like a new question to pop up asking why they don’t like it. But this question should only show up if they picked ‘No’.
I’ve looked around but can’t figure out if this is doable in Google Forms. Has anyone done something like this before? Any tips or tricks would be super helpful!
Thanks in advance for your help. I’m excited to make this survey more interactive!
Conditional fields in Google Forms can be implemented using Branching Logic. To set this up, first create your initial question about liking ice cream. Then, design a separate section for the follow-up question that appears if the answer is negative. Adjust the settings of your main question to direct respondents based on their answer so that only those who choose ‘No’ are taken to the additional question. Testing the setup thoroughly before distribution is important to ensure your survey functions as intended.
Absolutely, Ryan! I’ve used this feature extensively in my work surveys. Google Forms offers a powerful tool called ‘Branching Logic’ that does exactly what you’re looking for. Here’s how I typically set it up:
- Create your main ice cream question.
- Add a new section for the follow-up ‘why not’ question.
- In the main question settings, select ‘Go to section based on answer’.
- Link the ‘No’ response to your new section.
This way, only those who answer ‘No’ will see the additional question. It’s really handy for creating more targeted and efficient surveys. Just remember to test it thoroughly before sending it out. Good luck with your survey!
hey ryan, yes, google forms’s branching logic lets you do that. after setting up ur question, choose ‘go to section based on answer’ to have an extra section pop if someone answers no. hope that helps!
