Hey everyone,
I’m trying to set up Mailgun with my own domain instead of using their sandbox one. I’ve run into a snag during the domain verification process.
The good news is that the SPF record got verified pretty quickly, like in about 5 minutes. But here’s the thing: the DKIM record is still not showing as verified, even though it’s been way longer.
I’m cool with waiting if it just needs more time, but I’m worried I might have messed up a setting somewhere. It’s driving me nuts!
Has anyone else dealt with this before? Any tips on what I should check or how long I should wait before panicking? Thanks in advance for any help!
I’ve gone through this exact situation with Mailgun, and it can definitely be frustrating. One thing I learned the hard way is to pay close attention to the TTL (Time To Live) settings for your DNS records. If it’s set too high, it can delay propagation and verification. Another tip: make sure there are no extra spaces or characters in your DKIM record. I once spent hours troubleshooting only to find a stray space at the end of my record. If you’ve double-checked everything and it’s still not verifying after 24 hours, don’t hesitate to reach out to Mailgun support. They’re usually pretty responsive and can often spot issues we might overlook. Lastly, while waiting, you can use online DNS propagation checkers to see if your records are visible globally. Sometimes, it’s just a matter of patience.
hey sofiag, i’ve been there! DKIM can be a pain. sometimes it takes longer to verify, even up to 24 hours. double-check you copied the exact DKIM record from mailgun. also, try clearing your DNS cache or use a different DNS checker. hang in there!
I encountered a similar issue when setting up Mailgun for my client’s domain. While SPF usually verifies quickly, DKIM can indeed take longer. In my experience, it’s worth checking your DNS management interface to ensure the DKIM record is correctly formatted. Some interfaces may automatically add quotation marks, which can cause verification failures. Also, consider using Mailgun’s DNS verification tool in their control panel to troubleshoot any potential issues. If all else fails, try deleting and re-adding the DKIM record. Sometimes this can trigger a faster re-check on Mailgun’s end. Just remember, patience is key in DNS propagation matters.
