Connecting Google Docs to Spreadsheet data

Help needed with Google Docs and Sheets integration

I’m trying to figure out how to connect data from my Google Sheets to a Google Docs document. Is there a way to link specific cells from a spreadsheet to a doc?

Here’s what I want to do:

  1. I have a spreadsheet with some calculations
  2. I need those results to show up in my Google Doc
  3. When the spreadsheet changes, I want the doc to update automatically

I know in Excel you can do something like ‘Paste Special - Link’ but I’m not sure if Google has a similar feature. Does anyone know if this is possible? If so, how can I set it up?

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions!

yo, u can totally do that! i use this trick all the time. just go to ur doc, hit ‘insert’ then pick ‘Linked chips’ under Building Blocks. choose ur spreadsheet n select the cells u want. it’ll update automagically when ur sheet changes. super handy for keepin stuff synced!

I’ve been using this feature for a while now, and it’s a game-changer for my workflow. Here’s a pro tip: create a separate sheet in your Google Spreadsheet specifically for the data you want to link. This way, you can organize and format the data exactly how you want it to appear in your document.

Also, don’t forget that you can use formulas in the linked cells. This means you can set up complex calculations in your spreadsheet and have the results automatically appear in your document. It’s incredibly useful for financial reports or project updates where you need to showcase processed data.

One thing to watch out for: if you share the document, make sure the recipient has access to the linked spreadsheet as well. Otherwise, they’ll just see placeholders instead of the actual data.

Yes, it’s definitely possible to link Google Sheets data to Google Docs. You’ll want to use the IMPORTRANGE function in your Google Doc. Here’s how:

Open your Google Doc
Click Insert > Building Blocks > Linked chips
Choose ‘Spreadsheet’ and select your sheet
Pick the cells you want to import

The data will automatically update when your spreadsheet changes. Just remember to give permission for the Doc to access the Sheet the first time.

This method is great for keeping your documents in sync without manual updates. I use it all the time for reports and presentations that need real-time data.
