I’m looking into ways to connect Salesforce and Jira. My main goal is to link Jira tickets to Salesforce for better change management and case escalation.
Has anyone done this before? I’m thinking of adding a field in Salesforce where we can put the Jira ticket number. Also, it would be great if we could somehow connect this to our deployment pipeline in Gearset.
I’m not much of a coder, so I’m hoping for some configuration-based solutions. Are there any tools out there that can help with this? Bonus points if you know of any free options!
Any tips or experiences you can share would be super helpful. Thanks in advance!
hey JumpingRabbit, i’ve used zapier to connect salesforce and jira before. it’s pretty easy to set up and doesn’t require coding. you can create zaps to sync data between the two systems. there’s a free plan, but it might be limited. worth checking out tho!
I’ve had success integrating Salesforce and Jira using Salesforce’s native AppExchange offerings. There’s an app called ‘Jira for Salesforce’ that provides a solid connection without requiring extensive coding knowledge. It allows you to link Jira issues directly to Salesforce records and even create Jira tickets from within Salesforce.
For your deployment pipeline, while I haven’t used Gearset specifically, many of these integration apps offer API access that could potentially be incorporated into your existing processes. It might require some technical setup, but it’s often more straightforward than building a custom solution from scratch.
Regarding cost, while not free, some of these apps offer tiered pricing that might fit your budget. They often prove cost-effective when considering the time saved on manual processes. I’d recommend exploring the AppExchange and comparing features to find the best fit for your specific needs.
As someone who’s been in your shoes, I can tell you that integrating Salesforce and Jira can be a game-changer for change management. We tackled this at my previous company using Jira Align (formerly AgileCraft). It’s not free, but it offers robust integration capabilities that go beyond just linking tickets.
The custom field approach in Salesforce is a good start, but consider looking into middleware solutions like MuleSoft or Dell Boomi. These platforms can create more sophisticated integrations, allowing for bidirectional syncing of data between Salesforce and Jira.
For deployment, we found that Copado works well with both Salesforce and Jira, offering a seamless pipeline that ties everything together. It might be worth exploring as an alternative to Gearset if you’re looking for a more integrated solution.
Remember, while these tools can streamline processes, the key is in mapping out your workflows clearly before implementation. Good luck with your integration journey!
