Hey everyone! I’m working on setting up a Discord server for my friend group who plays Blood on the Clocktower. The server is getting bigger but I’m the only one who really knows all the character abilities by heart.
I want to create commands where people can type something like !Butler and get back the Butler’s role description and powers. I’ve been searching around but haven’t found any good solutions yet. Has anyone built something similar or know how to set this up?
I tried using a custom command bot where I manually entered each character and their description. I also looked into Carl-Bot with custom triggers but ran into the 50 trigger limit which isn’t enough for all the BotC roles.
Any suggestions for bots or methods that could handle this many character lookups would be awesome!
Check out MEE6’s custom commands - way higher limits than Carl-Bot and I’ve used it for similar lookup stuff. We also had good luck with a webhook that pulls from a Google Sheet with all the character data. Anyone can update descriptions and the bot grabs them automatically. Takes more setup but it’s way easier to maintain later. If you can handle basic coding, there’s open-source Discord bots made for tabletop games you could tweak. TableTop Helper has solid docs for adding custom game data.
