Hi everyone. I’ve been following the ongoing battle between ad blockers and Twitch’s anti-adblock measures for a while now. It seems like there’s been constant back and forth development on both sides. Recently I’m getting bombarded with advertisements again on Twitch streams. I recall there used to be workarounds where you could manually add certain filter rules or whitelist exceptions to make things work properly. Those solutions required periodic updates to stay effective. But now the ads are showing up frequently again despite using the same methods. Has anyone else noticed this happening? Are the current blocking techniques no longer working as expected? I’m wondering if Twitch rolled out some new detection system that broke the existing solutions.
Around Thanksgiving, this whole thing turned into a complete nightmare. I tried different browsers, but Twitch is now tracking device fingerprints too. Even incognito mode doesn’t help anymore. What really pisses me off is how they inject ads mid-stream during clutch moments - it feels intentionally malicious at this point.
Twitch’s detection got way more sophisticated around mid-November. They’re not just checking for blocking rules anymore - they’re fingerprinting how your browser behaves. I noticed my streams buffer weird right before ads hit, so they’re definitely watching network timing too. Regional proxies still work sometimes but you gotta switch servers constantly. What’s really clever is they’re serving ads from the same CDN as regular content now, so you can’t tell the difference in traffic patterns. Mobile works better with certain third-party apps, though it’s not quite the same experience. The community solutions are getting wrecked because Twitch is A/B testing different countermeasures. Something that breaks for you might still work for someone else temporarily.
Yeah, Twitch definitely stepped up their game recently. Same thing happened to me about two weeks ago - my usual setup just died completely. That purple screen workaround that worked for months? Totally useless now. They’re running some real-time detection that adapts way faster than before. Those filter lists that community maintainers used to update every few days? Now they’re outdated within hours sometimes. I’ve tried different extensions and newer userscripts, but nothing sticks for more than a day or two. It’s frustrating because the ads are getting worse too - longer and fewer skip options. Honestly thinking about just subbing to the streamers I watch most since the technical solutions are losing this arms race.
