Deciding Between HubSpot and Salesforce Job Offers - Seeking Opinions

Hi everyone! After a month of interviews, I’ve received two job offers, and I’m feeling pretty confused about which one to select.

Job Option 1: Small Business AE at HubSpot

  • Base salary: $75k / Total target earnings: $145k (fully remote)

Job Option 2: SMB Growth AE at Salesforce

  • Base salary: $90k / Total target earnings: $180k (4 days in-office, 20-minute commute)

I’m conflicted because I appreciate remote work, and the culture at HubSpot seemed great based on my interviews. However, having Salesforce on my resume could be significant since I have only one B2B startup sales experience to date. Also, the Salesforce role involves working with larger clients (50-200 employees) compared to small businesses (1-50) at HubSpot. Based on RepVue feedback, it appears that success at HubSpot may rely heavily on a manager’s support, while at Salesforce, it may depend more on assigned territory.

Overall, I feel there might be greater opportunities for advancement at Salesforce, potential higher earnings based solely on OTE, and improved relationship building in an office setting. However, HubSpot is still a fantastic company with a strong SMB focus and offers the remote work I enjoy.

I would appreciate any final thoughts as I consider my options this weekend. I’ve received mixed feedback from my network.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I was in the same spot three years ago - startup vs enterprise. HubSpot’s remote work sounds great, but don’t overlook that territory difference. At Salesforce, you’re getting a defined territory with bigger clients, which means more predictable deals and higher values. Companies with 50-200 employees have better budgets and stick around longer than the 1-50 range. I’ve found that bigger clients force you to develop better sales skills that’ll help in future roles. The office thing might actually help your career - you’ll get informal mentoring and build relationships with senior reps. Since you don’t have much B2B experience, Salesforce’s structure and proven processes will probably speed up your learning curve.

both r good, but honestly, i wud lean towards Salesforce. yeah, the commute is kinda annoying, but having that brand on ur resume is huge. hubspot is nice, but salesforce looks better for future gigs. not to forget that $35k more in OTE is a big deal!
