Design tool company threatens legal action over 'Dev Mode' phrase

Hey everyone,

I just heard some crazy news about the design world. Apparently, a well-known design software company sent a cease-and-desist letter to a smaller competitor because of its use of ‘Dev Mode’ in its product. I feel that ‘Dev Mode’ is a common term that many in the industry use without issue.

What are your thoughts on this matter? Is it reasonable for a company to restrict such a generic phrase? Could this move affect other design or development tools in the future? I’m looking forward to hearing your opinions on this potentially precedent-setting action.

wow thats crazy! dev mode is like, super common. cant believe theyd try to claim it. seems like a power move by the big company tbh. might scare off smaller devs from using basic terms. hope the little guy fights back, this is bs
