I’m having trouble with my Figma desktop application. I was working on setting up the MCP server configuration when I noticed that the Enable Dev Mode MCP Server option completely disappeared from my settings menu.
I remember seeing this option before and I think I might have unchecked it while trying to fix another issue. But now I can’t find it anywhere in the application settings.
I’ve seen other users who still have this option available in their Figma desktop version, so I know it should be there. Has anyone else experienced this problem where the Dev Mode MCP Server toggle just vanishes?
I’ve tried restarting the application and checking different menu sections but no luck so far. Any suggestions on how to get this option back would be really helpful.
This sounds like a config file corruption issue I ran into a few months ago. Figma stores the Dev Mode MCP Server setting in your local preferences, and sometimes when it updates or crashes, these files get corrupted or reset. What worked for me was completely uninstalling Figma desktop and doing a fresh reinstall instead of just clearing cache. Before you uninstall, make sure to sync any local files to the cloud. When you reinstall, pick the custom installation if it’s available and make sure developer features are enabled. The MCP Server option should show up in its normal spot in settings after the clean install finishes.
If the Dev Mode MCP Server option is missing, it could be due to corrupt local settings. A similar issue happened to me where I resolved it by clearing the app cache. Navigate to your application’s data folder, locate the Figma directory, and delete both cache and temp files without affecting your account details.
