I’m trying to figure out how to get rid of page breaks in Google Docs. I want my document to be one long continuous page that I can scroll through. The old ways of doing this don’t seem to work anymore.
I never print my Google Docs so the page breaks are just a nuisance. They mess up my formatting especially when I use tables with footnotes. The breaks make the table look weird and split up the footnotes.
Does anyone know a current method to turn off pagination and just have a smooth scrolling document? It would make editing so much easier. Thanks for any help!
While Google Docs doesn’t have a built-in option to completely remove page breaks, there’s a workaround that might help. Try changing your document to ‘Pageless’ format. Go to File > Page setup, then select ‘Pageless’ from the dropdown menu. This creates a fluid layout that adapts to your screen width, eliminating traditional page breaks. It won’t solve all formatting issues, especially with complex tables, but it does provide a more continuous scrolling experience. Just be aware that if you need to print or export to PDF later, you might need to adjust your layout.
I understand how frustrating page breaks can be. In my experience, Google Docs doesn’t offer a direct way to disable pagination entirely. A trick that has worked for me is to adjust the page settings to create a custom, very tall page. By going to File > Page Setup and setting a custom page height (for example, a very large value), you can simulate a continuous scrolling document. This method isn’t perfect, but it can help reduce the interference of page breaks while editing.
hey, have u tried the web app version? sometimes it behaves differently. go to docs.google.com instead of using the desktop app. then try view > remove section breaks. it worked 4 me once. might be worth a shot if nothing else is helping!
