Hey everyone,
I just got an email from our IT department saying they’re cutting off our paid Miro accounts at the end of the week. They mentioned it’s because of some new rule about not using US-based vendors.
I’m a bit puzzled though. They suggested Figjam as a replacement, but isn’t that also from a US company? And what about all our other software? Aren’t most of them from American companies too?
Does anyone know if we’re going to lose access to other tools we use? Or is this just a one-off thing with Miro? I’d appreciate any info you guys might have on this.
Thanks!
I experienced a similar situation at a previous job. The adjustments to vendor policies often depend on nuances such as data storage practices, security measures, and even regulatory interpretations. In our case, the shift wasn’t a blanket rule against all US-based vendors but targeted those that didn’t meet certain compliance standards. For Miro, this likely relates to their data policies or recent service updates. It might be beneficial to ask IT for a detailed explanation, as they may address each tool on a case-by-case basis. Meanwhile, consider backing up important work to ensure nothing critical is lost.
