Hi everyone! I’m about to run my very first D&D campaign as a dungeon master starting next week. Since I’ll be busy managing the game, I was wondering if there’s a Discord bot out there that can automatically listen to our voice chat and create notes or summaries of what happens during our sessions. I want to keep track of important story moments, character decisions, and plot developments without having to write everything down myself while trying to run the game. Has anyone used something like this before? I’d really appreciate any recommendations for bots that can handle this kind of automatic note-taking feature. Thanks in advance for any help!
i get ya! craig bot is pretty good for recording, but it doesn’t do auto notes. u can use it and then some transcription tools later. its a bit of work, but helps keep track of fun moments. good luck with ur game!
Recording Discord calls without everyone’s consent breaks Discord’s TOS and might violate privacy laws where you live. Even with permission, Discord doesn’t officially support bots that transcribe voice channels in real-time. The workarounds involve manual recording plus separate transcription services - it’s clunky and gets expensive fast. Skip the automation headache. Instead, rotate who takes notes each session, or pause after big story moments to write down key points together. You’ll actually stay more engaged with the story and build better shared memories of your campaign.
After DMing for years, I learned that trying to document everything during sessions made me a terrible DM. You’re so focused on taking notes that you miss what’s actually happening at the table. Here’s what works: spend the last 10-15 minutes doing a group recap where everyone shares what they remember. Players catch stuff you missed, and they get more invested when they help create the session summary. I just keep a notepad handy for major plot points between scenes. This beats any recording setup I’ve tried. Plus your players love being part of the storytelling process.
