Do many marketing professionals struggle with using web analytics tools?

I’ve been working with various companies lately and noticed something interesting about how marketing teams handle data analysis tools. It seems like there’s a real disconnect between what these platforms can do and how comfortable people are actually using them.

From my experience, a lot of marketers I talk to either haven’t touched analytics dashboards at all or they find the whole experience overwhelming. The interface complexity and all the different metrics seem to stress people out. Some have told me they just avoid it entirely because it feels too technical.

I’m thinking about creating simplified dashboards that pull the important numbers without requiring people to navigate through all the complicated menus and settings. Has anyone else run into this issue with their teams or clients? What approaches worked best for getting marketing folks more confident with data analysis?

Super common problem - I see this all the time across different industries. Most marketing folks come from creative or communications backgrounds where nobody taught them data analytics. They’re great at strategy and campaigns but get intimidated by tools like Google Analytics or Adobe Analytics. Doesn’t help that these platforms keep getting more complex with every update. I’ve watched talented marketers who could run amazing campaigns just hand off all the reporting to junior staff or agencies because the interfaces felt overwhelming. Your simplified dashboard idea is spot on - I’ve had great results building custom views that show only the KPIs that actually matter for each role. Strip out the noise and show data that connects directly to their goals instead of making them wade through dozens of useless metrics.
