Do pre-built browser automation templates actually save time, or are they mostly just a starting point that needs heavy customization?

we’re evaluating whether to build everything from scratch or start with pre-built templates. the templates look comprehensive, but i’m skeptical about how much actual work they save versus how much time gets spent customizing them to our specific needs.

like, sure, a template gives you structure. but does it actually cut development time significantly, or are you mostly rewriting half of it anyway? what’s the gap between what a template provides and what you actually need?

i’m thinking about marketplace templates specifically. people are selling these things, which suggests there’s real value. but i want to know from someone who’s actually used them whether they’re genuinely accelerating things or if they feel like a false shortcut that slows you down with unnecessary cruft.

how much of a template can you actually reuse without modification? and at what point does it become faster to just build from scratch than to customize an existing template?
