Hello everyone! I’m having trouble with finding records in Airtable. When I use the search function to look for specific terms like “McDonald’s”, I expect it to scan through my entire workspace including all databases and tables to show matching entries. But I keep getting “no results found” messages. I also experimented with the Airtable MCP Server using AI-powered queries, but the behavior seems unpredictable - it works occasionally but fails most of the time. Is there something I’m doing wrong? I thought comprehensive record searching would be a standard feature in Airtable. Any help would be appreciated!
yea, airtables search is kinda weak. it really struggles with punctuation - try dropping the apostrophe and see if that helps. also make sure your view ain’t filtered since that messes with results. for the price, their search should be way better, honestly.
Nope, Airtable doesn’t have true universal search across your whole workspace - I know, it’s annoying. Search only works within individual bases and whatever view you’re currently in. Caught me off guard when I started using it too. The global search bar at the top looks promising, but it still searches bases one by one instead of everything at once. Your best bet is searching within specific bases where you think your data lives. Also double-check that your current view isn’t filtered in a way that’s hiding what you’re looking for. One more thing - search gets weird with special characters sometimes. Try just ‘McDonald’ instead of ‘McDonald’s’ and see if that works better.
