Hello everyone,
I find myself quite puzzled and somewhat lost when it comes to effectively using JIRA. For the past two months, I’ve attempted to learn through numerous YouTube tutorials, yet they mostly focus on features rather than providing a clear understanding of how to utilize them properly. Additionally, is JIRA truly beneficial for product management?
To clarify, I am in the process of developing my own software. Previously, I didn’t pay much attention to how project managers created tickets or handled the system. My contributions were limited to basic updates on tickets. Now, as I embark on this new project, I realize I need to grasp the fundamentals of JIRA better.
Thank you all for your input; it has been invaluable in helping me identify where I may be going wrong.
I completely understand the initial confusion when starting with JIRA, especially when you’ve mostly been on the periphery before. What worked for me was setting up a dummy project to experiment with JIRA’s different functionalities firsthand. This hands-on approach allowed me to organically understand how various features like creating epics, sprints, and assigning tickets functioned. Also, engaging with JIRA’s user community can provide practical insights and shortcuts. JIRA can be incredibly beneficial for product management, largely because of its customization capabilities and its ability to integrate with other tools, which can be helpful in aligning your development process with project goals.
hey harry, i totally feel you. diving into jira was a bit overwhelming at first. i found that attending a live workshop helped me get the insights i needed. considering jira offers different views like kanban & scrum, you can choose what fits your workflow best. keep going!
