Hi everyone! I’m about to open my very first Shopify store and I’m looking for advice from people who have been through this already. I recently discovered that fake orders can be a real problem when I read about Shopify’s fraud detection system. This was completely new to me and made me realize there’s probably a lot more I don’t know about running an online store. What are some important things you wish someone had told you when you were just starting out? Any mistakes to avoid or features I should know about? I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences so I can be better prepared. Thanks for any help you can share!
When I started my Shopify store, I quickly learned that website optimization is everything. I totally underestimated how much loading speed and mobile responsiveness would hurt my user experience. Test your site on different devices and make sure it loads fast - trust me on this. Get into SEO early too, it’ll boost your visibility big time. I also discovered that staying active on social media helps build a real community around your brand, which keeps customers coming back. Don’t be shy about hitting up Shopify’s support and community forums either - they’re lifesavers.
payment procesing fees can really hit u when u least expect it - they add up quick! also, make sure to get inventory tracking set up from the start, running outta stock is super embarrassing. oh, and customer service response time is so important - it made a big diff for me.
honestly, i agree with lucask! and email marketing is so crucial, i waited too long too. backups are a must, i learned that the hard way once. plus, keep an eye on analytics - they really help understand ur customers better. good luck with ur store!
