I created my Character AI profile through Facebook authentication and everything worked perfectly for weeks. I could chat with all the AI characters without any problems. But now I’m stuck with a persistent login error that shows up every time I try to access my account through Facebook.
I’ve already tried the basic troubleshooting steps like force closing the application, rebooting my device, and verifying that Character AI has proper permissions to access my Facebook data. Nothing seems to work and the same error message keeps popping up.
This is really frustrating because I only set up my account using Facebook login, so I don’t have any other way to get back into my profile. Has anyone else experienced similar Facebook authentication issues with Character AI? What solutions worked for you?
i had this too! try loggin outta Facebook and then back in. sometimes it helps reset the connection. also check if the app needs any updates. hope it works for ya!
Been dealing with OAuth integration headaches for years at work. This sounds like a token refresh issue.
Your access token probably expired and Character AI can’t refresh it. Facebook tokens have different lifespans and the refresh process breaks sometimes.
Try this before doing Emma’s full app removal:
Open Facebook in browser → Settings & Privacy → Settings → Security and Login. Find “Where You’re Logged In” and kill the Character AI session. Then try logging back in.
If that fails, Character AI might’ve changed something with their Facebook auth. I’ve seen other apps update their Facebook configuration and kill all existing tokens.
Worst case: contact Character AI support since you’re locked out. They should help you recover the account or set up different login options.
Hit this same issue three weeks ago, but mine had a weird twist. Facebook login seemed to work - I’d get through the auth popup and see the loading screen - but then Character AI would just hang and error out. Switching browsers fixed it for me. Was using Chrome when it started, tried Firefox and boom, worked right away. There’s probably some browser-specific cookie or session mess between Facebook’s auth and Character AI. Also check if you’re running privacy extensions like uBlock Origin or Privacy Badger - they mess with cross-site auth sometimes. Had a friend disable them temporarily during login and that worked. Mobile app vs web can act different too, so if you’re stuck on one try the other while you figure out your main login.
Same thing happened to me two months back - turns out Facebook reset third-party app permissions after some security update. Here’s what fixed it: Go to Facebook settings > Apps and Websites, find Character AI, and delete it completely. Then go back to Character AI and do the Facebook login again from scratch. Worked right away for me. Also try clearing your browser cache or app data first - sometimes old session stuff messes with the login between Facebook and Character AI.
