After being a loyal Spotify Premium member for over 10 years I’m finally calling it quits. The last straw was opening the desktop app at work and seeing yet another UI change. The search bar moved to the top and there’s even more clutter on the screen now.
I know it might sound a bit over the top but I just can’t deal with it anymore. I’ve been unhappy for a while and even started using Apple Music alongside Spotify mainly for lossless audio on my favorite albums.
The only thing keeping me on Spotify was my playlists and listening history. The algorithm knew me well because of this. But now I’m done. Here’s why:
- The UI is a mess. It takes way too many clicks to find and play music.
- They keep pushing certain songs. I’m sick of hearing Training Season and Espresso all the time.
- Still no lossless audio. The HIFI promise feels like a joke now.
- Useless notifications about sold-out concerts.
- The shuffle feature is still terrible.
- Too much focus on podcasts and videos I don’t want.
Basically I can’t find the music I actually want to hear quickly and easily anymore. I’m tired of being forced to see and listen to stuff I don’t care about.
I’m using Songshift to move my library. Time to say goodbye to Spotify!
I hear you on the Spotify frustrations. Been there, done that. Switched to Deezer last year and haven’t looked back. Their Flow feature is like magic - it’s scary how well it knows my taste. Plus, the sound quality is top-notch, even on the standard tier.
The UI is clean and intuitive, none of that constant reshuffling nonsense. And get this - they actually listen to user feedback. Imagine that!
Transferring my playlists was a breeze with Tune My Music. Took about an hour, but saved me weeks of manual work.
Only downside? Lost my carefully curated Spotify Wrapped. But honestly, the improved daily listening experience more than makes up for it. Good luck with your switch - sometimes a fresh start is exactly what you need.
I totally get where you’re coming from. I’ve been a Spotify user for years too, and I’ve definitely felt the frustration with some of their changes. The constant UI updates can be jarring, especially when you’re just trying to quickly pull up your favorite playlist at work.
For me, the breaking point was when they started pushing podcasts so aggressively. I’m there for music, not to have Joe Rogan’s face plastered all over my home screen. And don’t even get me started on the shuffle feature – it’s like it has a vendetta against playing the songs I actually want to hear.
I ended up making the switch to Tidal a few months ago. The lossless audio quality is a game-changer, and their UI is much cleaner and more intuitive. Plus, their curated playlists are top-notch. It took a bit of effort to transfer everything over, but honestly, it was worth it. My listening experience has improved dramatically.
Sometimes you just have to vote with your wallet. Good luck with your transition!
hey, totally get it. that new ui is a mess and podcasts overkill. i moved to apple music recently, and it’s been a smoother ride with a cleaner design. hope your switch is painless!
