I need some advice about my work situation. I started working as a Shopify virtual assistant back in 2018 and got my first client who pays me $60k monthly. My tasks include handling customer service, adding products to their store, and managing their advertising campaigns. Even though I’m not a marketing expert, I somehow managed to keep their business profitable.
After about 12 months, I had lots of free time so I decided to take on another client. This second one pays me $85k per month for similar work. The funny thing is that their ads perform really well even though they’re just basic dropshipping advertisements from Chinese suppliers. I don’t put much effort into them but they keep working.
Now I’m handling both clients but only actually working a couple days each week. I send them morning messages so they think I’m actively working, but most of the time I’m just available if they need something. These two gigs have become like passive income while I also have my main full-time job that requires daily attention.
This has been going on for almost seven years now. The first client helped me buy two vehicles and the second one covers my mortgage payments. Sometimes I feel guilty because it seems like I’m earning money without doing much work. I keep wondering when this situation will end or if I should feel bad about it. Does anyone else deal with something similar?
