I’m having trouble with my Figma application where several keyboard shortcuts have stopped responding. Three specific hotkeys that I use frequently are no longer working when I press them. This is really slowing down my workflow since I rely on these shortcuts for my design work.
I’ve tried restarting the app and my browser but the issue persists. Has anyone experienced similar problems with Figma shortcuts not responding? Is there a way to reset the keyboard bindings or maybe use alternative methods to restore these hotkeys? Any suggestions on troubleshooting this would be greatly appreciated since it’s affecting my productivity.
Same thing happened to me two months back - turned out to be a browser extension messing things up. My shortcuts started glitching, then died completely. Fixed it by disabling all extensions, then turning them back on one at a time to find the problem child. Mine was some productivity extension stealing my key combos. Also check if you’re running hotkey apps like Alfred that might grab those keypresses before Figma sees them. Try clearing Figma’s cache and cookies too - corrupted session stuff can break shortcut detection.
This exact thing destroyed our design team last quarter. Multiple designers lost shortcuts mid-sprint and we spent hours manually troubleshooting instead of working.
I ended up building an automated monitoring system that catches these problems before they wreck productivity. It detects when Figma shortcuts die and automatically runs a fix sequence.
The system checks browser processes, clears cache files, resets shortcut mappings, and switches between browser/desktop versions when needed. Runs every few minutes in the background so designers stay in flow state.
It also logs which fixes work for different problems, so it learns over time. No more digging through extensions or random guessing.
For your current issue - try incognito mode first. If shortcuts work there, it’s definitely an extension problem.
Automating these workflow killers has been huge for our team though. Check out https://latenode.com
Had this exact problem last year with a client project. Turns out my OS language settings were messing with Figma’s shortcut recognition. Check if you’ve got multiple keyboard layouts running or if sticky keys accidentally got turned on in accessibility settings. Fixed mine by going into Figma settings, resetting shortcuts to default, then customizing them again. Also try the desktop app instead of browser - it handles shortcuts way better, especially on Windows. Sometimes just logging out and back into Figma refreshes the shortcut mappings.
