Figma project vanished after using union operation - how to recover?

I was designing something in Figma and accidentally clicked the union button while working on my project. Now my entire design has disappeared and I can’t see any of my original elements anymore. I think the union operation merged everything together in a way that made my project invisible or unrecognizable.

I already tried using Ctrl+Z multiple times to undo the action, but it’s not working at all. The undo function seems to be broken or maybe I’ve gone too far back in the history.

Has anyone experienced this issue before? Is there a way to recover my original project or reverse the union operation? I really don’t want to start over from scratch since I had spent hours on this design. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

hey! don’t freak out. just check the version history in the file menu. you can go back to an earlier version before the union mess. saved me a ton of times! good luck!

Check your layers panel on the left - your elements might be grouped together after the union. Sometimes union creates one object containing everything, so expand the layer to see the individual pieces. If that’s not it, select where your design was and look for invisible or white objects covering everything. I’ve had union create weird shapes that weren’t visible right away. Also check if you’ve got filters or blend modes hiding your content. Try outline view (Ctrl+Y) - it’ll show hidden elements.
