Wow I just set up a Telegram Bot for Forge-X time lapses on my laptop! It’s running in a Linux VM on my Mac. I’m no pro at Linux or networking but I made it work.
The setup was tricky. The automatic install didn’t work out. The mod creator Alex said he’d fix it later. He told me to try the manual setup instead. That did the trick!
Just finished my first test print time lapse. It’s awesome! I might make a video about the whole process. It’s pretty cool to see your print come to life like that.
Anyone else tried this setup? How did it go for you? Any tips for a newbie?
I’ve been using the Forge-X time lapse setup for a few months now, and it’s been a game-changer for my printing process. Initially, I struggled with the VM configuration too, but I found that allocating more RAM to the VM significantly improved stability.
One thing I’ve learned is to mount the camera securely. Even slight vibrations can ruin a time lapse. I ended up 3D printing a custom mount for my webcam, which made a huge difference in video quality.
Also, don’t forget about post-processing. A bit of color correction and stabilization in editing software can really elevate your time lapses. I use DaVinci Resolve (free version) and it works wonders.
Lastly, experiment with different print orientations. Sometimes, an unconventional angle can make for a more interesting time lapse. Keep at it, and you’ll be amazed at how your videos improve over time!
hey flyingstar, that’s sick! i tried it too but got stuck. my vm kept crashing lol. any chance u could share ur setup steps? maybe i missed somethin. btw what kinda prints r u doing? i’m into miniatures myself.
Congratulations on getting the Forge-X time lapse setup working! It’s always satisfying when you can overcome technical hurdles like that. I’ve experimented with various time lapse setups for 3D printing, and the results can be truly mesmerizing. One tip I’d offer is to ensure your lighting remains consistent throughout the print. Fluctuations in natural light can create noticeable shifts in the final video. Also, if you’re feeling adventurous, try adjusting the capture interval for different effects. Shorter intervals create smoother videos but generate larger file sizes. It’s a balance between quality and storage capacity. Keep experimenting and sharing your results!
