Hey everyone! I’m looking for suggestions for music streaming apps that don’t have advertisements or playback restrictions. I used to have a modified music app but it stopped working recently due to region blocks and other issues.
I tried using a YouTube alternative app on my phone but the search function is really annoying to use and not very reliable. I want something where I can easily find and play any songs I want without interruptions.
Can anyone recommend good music streaming applications that work well and give you full control over playback? I don’t mind if they’re unofficial versions or alternative platforms. Just need something that actually works smoothly and lets me listen to music without constant ads breaking up the experience.
I switched to Bandcamp and it’s great for finding new music without ads. Artists upload directly and you can stream most tracks free. Search actually works, unlike those YouTube alternatives you mentioned. Also try internet radio apps like RadioDroid or TuneIn - thousands of stations worldwide, most without commercials. No on-demand selection but discovery beats algorithm recommendations. For offline listening, I use Audacity to record from various sources and build my own library. Takes setup time but once you’ve got a collection, zero interruptions and no connection problems.
I faced similar challenges with ads and switched to using Spotify free alongside an ad blocker on my desktop. While the mobile version still has issues, the desktop experience is much better for uninterrupted listening. SoundCloud is another solid alternative, offering fewer restrictions and a wide range of indie artists to explore. If you want a completely ad-free experience, consider using local media players like VLC or Poweramp with your own music files. While streaming is convenient, having downloaded tracks gives you ultimate control without the need for an internet connection.
I’ve dealt with this same crap for years. The ads and restrictions drive me nuts when I just want to listen to music.
I ended up automating everything with Latenode. Built a workflow that grabs music from multiple free sources, cuts out ads, and makes custom playlists based on what I actually listen to. It also fixes those search issues you mentioned - automatically tries different sources until it finds the song.
It monitors platforms for new releases and adds them to my library automatically. No more manually searching everywhere. If one source goes down or gets geo-blocked, it switches to another.
This beats any single app hands down. You get uninterrupted music, automatic switching, and don’t have to deal with modded apps that constantly break.
honestly, just get a cheap subscrption - it’s like $5/month and saves u all the hassle. I used to mess with modded apps but they always break and u lose playlists. Spotify student discount is great if ur eligible!
