Frustrated with Discord's privileged intent approval process for AI-powered ticket bot

I’m at my wit’s end with Discord’s approval process for privileged intents. I poured my heart into creating an advanced AI ticket management bot. It’s not your run-of-the-mill ticket opener. This bot can give AI-powered responses based on server info, prioritize user privacy, and encrypt user IDs without storing message content.

I even made a video showing how it all works. But after applying twice for Message Content and Guild Member Intent, I got shot down both times. The responses felt like they came from a robot, not a person. Just copy-pasted stuff about “unique functionality” and links to articles.

No real feedback or explanation. I’m not even sure if anyone watched my demo video. I get that Discord’s pushing for Slash Commands and Interactions, but why not just say that outright?

Has anyone here successfully gotten Message Content Intent approved for an AI bot recently? Or should I just cave and rebuild everything with Slash Commands? I’m seriously considering throwing in the towel on this project. Any advice?

man, that sucks. ive been there too. discords approval process is a pain in the butt. maybe try reaching out to their dev team directly? sometimes a human touch helps. or yeah, you might have to bite the bullet and go the slash command route. dont give up tho, your bot sounds awesome!

I’ve been down this road, and it’s definitely frustrating. Discord’s approval process for privileged intents is notoriously tough, especially for AI-powered bots. In my case, I had to revamp my bot three times before getting the green light.

Here’s what worked for me: I focused on emphasizing the unique aspects of my bot that absolutely required message content. I also created a detailed security plan, showing how I’d handle user data responsibly. Most importantly, I reached out to Discord’s developer relations team directly through their official server.

That personal touch made a difference. They provided specific feedback on what I needed to change. It was a slog, but worth it in the end. If you’re set on keeping your current functionality, persistence and clear communication might just pay off. But be prepared for a long process.

I sympathize with your frustration, Tom. The privileged intent approval process can be a real headache. From my experience, Discord has become incredibly strict with these permissions, especially for AI-powered bots. I went through a similar ordeal last year.

My advice? Bite the bullet and rebuild with Slash Commands. It’s a pain, but it’s the direction Discord is pushing everything. I ended up doing this for my own bot, and while it took time, it actually improved user experience in the long run. Plus, it made getting approval much smoother.

Don’t give up on your project - it sounds genuinely useful. Consider the rebuild as an opportunity to refine and optimize your bot’s functionality. Good luck!
