Frustrating issue: Repeatedly adding NPM module on Samsung Frame TV

I’m having a problem with my 2022 Samsung Frame TV (65-inch). Every time I want to use Tizentube, I have to go through the whole process of adding the NPM module again. Here’s what happens:

  1. I open Tizenbrew
  2. It shows ‘Tizenbrew next generation is loading’
  3. I add the NPM module @foxreis/tizentube
  4. I see a list of modules, including Tizentube and some unknowns
  5. I select Tizentube and it opens fine

But if I turn off the TV or exit the app, I have to do this all over again when I want to use Tizentube. It’s really annoying!

Does anyone know how to:

  1. Create a separate icon for Tizentube?
  2. Keep Tizentube on the TV without re-entering the module each time?

Any help would be great. Thanks!

I feel your pain with this Tizentube issue! I’ve been dealing with something similar on my 2021 Frame TV. Here’s what worked for me after a lot of trial and error:

Try clearing the TV’s cache and data for the Tizenbrew app. Go to Settings > Apps > Tizenbrew > Storage and hit ‘Clear cache’ and ‘Clear data’. This fixed the constant reinstall problem for me.

If that doesn’t work, there’s a workaround I use. I created a Bixby routine that automatically opens Tizenbrew and adds the Tizentube module when I say ‘Hey Bixby, open Tizentube’. It’s not perfect, but it saves some manual steps.

Unfortunately, I haven’t found a way to create a separate icon yet. Samsung’s pretty restrictive with their app ecosystem. Hopefully they’ll add native support for Tizentube soon. Good luck!

hey there! i’ve had similar issues w/ my frame TV. one thing that helped was updating tizenbrew to the latest version. go to settings > support > software update and check for updates. if that doesnt work, try uninstalling and reinstalling tizenbrew completely. its a pain but might fix the problem. good luck!

I’ve encountered this frustrating issue with Tizentube as well. One solution that’s worked for me is to install the Tizen Studio IDE on your computer and use it to develop a simple wrapper app for Tizentube. This allows you to create a standalone icon and maintain persistence between sessions.

While it requires some initial setup, it’s worth the effort. You’ll need to enable developer mode on your TV, register it as a development device, and then use the IDE to package Tizentube as a native Tizen app. Once deployed, it should remain installed and accessible without repeated module additions.

This method also provides more control over the app’s behavior and potentially allows for customizations. It’s not the most straightforward solution, but it’s effective for power users who want a seamless Tizentube experience on their Frame TV.
