Giphy GIF integration is now enabled in our community

Hey everyone! Just wanted to inform you that we’ve turned on the Giphy GIF feature for our subreddit. This update helps us address the previous issues we faced with allowing GIFs.

Please remember to use this new functionality wisely. Avoid trying to circumvent our rules by posting GIFs that would normally break guidelines if they were standard posts or comments. Our community standards still apply with this feature.

Excited to see some creative and suitable GIFs from all of you. Thanks for making our community great!

We rolled out something like this at work last year for our internal chat. Spam filter worked overtime that first month.

What blindsided us? Everyone defaulted to reaction GIFs for everything. Actual feedback disappeared - just GIFs everywhere. Watch out for that.

Set up keyword filtering for GIF searches too. Users will hunt for workarounds to get banned content through search. We found out the hard way.

Engagement jumped 30% once we added it though. Just needed some tweaking to get the balance right.

finally! i’ve been waiting forever for this. other subs with gifs are way more fun to browse. just hope ppl don’t go crazy with it right away and ruin it for everyone else lol

Smart way to roll out GIFs without losing control. I’ve seen forums go from text-only to unlimited GIF chaos - total mess for weeks. Good call reminding people that existing rules still apply to GIFs. People always think visual content gets a free pass. My only worry is server load and mobile loading times. Notice any performance hits yet? Either way, thanks for the gradual rollout instead of just flipping the switch.

Perfect timing on this rollout. I’ve seen other communities get overwhelmed when they first add GIFs, so the heads up about guidelines is smart. The tricky part will be GIFs that work fine on their own but wouldn’t fly as regular posts. Hope the mod tools can handle the flood this’ll probably bring. Curious to see how it changes how people engage here.
