Gmail app keeps crashing on my Android device

While browsing my phone, I tried to read a new email, but the Gmail app crashed. I can see my emails listed, but every time I attempt to open one, the app closes and kicks me out. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

I’ve been there, Dave. It’s super annoying when apps crash, especially when you’re trying to read important emails. Here’s what worked for me:

First, I’d suggest checking your internet connection. Sometimes spotty Wi-Fi can cause weird app behavior. If that’s not it, try clearing the app’s cache and data. Go to Settings > Apps > Gmail > Storage and tap ‘Clear Cache’ and ‘Clear Data’. Don’t worry, this won’t delete your emails.

If that doesn’t do the trick, make sure your Gmail app is up to date. Open the Play Store, search for Gmail, and update if available. Also, check if your Android system needs an update.

As a last resort, you might need to uninstall and reinstall the app. Just remember to back up any important stuff first.

Hope this helps! Let us know if you get it sorted.

hey dave, i had this issue last week. try clearing the app cache and data. go to settings > apps > gmail > storage and hit clear data/cache. it worked for me. if not, maybe uninstall updates or check for new ones in play store. good luck!

I’ve dealt with this frustrating issue before. Have you tried force stopping the app? Go to Settings > Apps > Gmail > Force Stop. Then relaunch Gmail. If that doesn’t work, check your storage space. Low storage can cause app crashes. Delete some unnecessary files or move them to the cloud. Also, ensure your Android OS is up to date. System updates often include fixes for app compatibility issues. If nothing else works, you might need to uninstall and reinstall Gmail completely. Just remember to back up any important emails first. Hope this helps resolve the problem!
