I’m really frustrated right now because I just discovered that Godspeed’s music has been removed from Spotify. This is so annoying because I was literally playing their tracks just yesterday and everything was working fine. I had several of their albums in my playlists and now they’re all greyed out. Does anyone know what happened here? Did they pull their music on purpose or is this some kind of licensing issue? I really hope this gets fixed soon because I listen to their stuff regularly. Has anyone else noticed this problem or found the music available on other streaming platforms? This kind of thing always happens with the artists I actually want to listen to.
Had this same problem three months ago with another post-rock band. Godspeed You! Black Emperor keeps fighting with streaming platforms over royalty splits - they’re pretty anti-corporate so this stuff happens a lot. What’s annoying is they just pull the music without warning anyone. I got sick of it and bought their vinyl straight from Constellation Records. Yeah, physical media feels old school, but at least your music can’t disappear overnight. YouTube Music still has some tracks, but way less than Spotify used to have.
This is exactly why I built a music tracker with Latenode. Nothing’s worse than your favorite songs just disappearing.
I set up automation that watches multiple platforms for specific artists - Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Bandcamp. Runs daily checks, and when something vanishes from one service, I get instant alerts with links to wherever else it’s still available.
With this Godspeed situation, you’d have known the day it happened and seen exactly which platforms still had their stuff. No more finding out weeks later.
Super easy to build yourself. Just hook up the streaming APIs to a workflow that checks daily. 30 minutes of setup saves you from these nasty surprises.

I’ve experienced similar situations with other artists. Typically, it’s just temporary licensing issues that can take a few weeks to resolve as labels negotiate contracts. Given Godspeed’s independent status and their approach to digital distribution, this situation seems par for the course. In the meantime, you might want to check Bandcamp, as many artists often keep their music available there during such disputes. Apple Music or Tidal could also have their tracks accessible while Spotify sorts this out.
Ugh, this sucks but I’m not surprised. Godspeed has always been weird about digital stuff and streaming. Try Bandcamp or Discogs if you want to buy directly from the band. Spotify pulls this crap constantly with smaller labels - sometimes the music returns in a few months, sometimes it doesn’t. Really annoying when you’re trying to listen to something specific.
