Google Analytics 4 integration not working in Nuxt application

I’m struggling to get Google Analytics 4 working properly with my Nuxt project. I followed several guides online but my website traffic isn’t appearing in the GA4 dashboard for both development and live environments.

Here’s my current configuration in nuxt.config.js:

buildModules: [
  '@nuxtjs/tailwindcss',
  '@nuxtjs/google-analytics'
],
googleAnalytics: {
  id: 'G-XYZ123ABC4D'
}

I’m using a valid GA4 measurement ID from my data stream configuration. I’ve tested with multiple data streams (one with www subdomain and one without) but neither seems to capture any analytics data. Has anyone encountered similar issues with GA4 and Nuxt integration?

The @nuxtjs/google-analytics module you’re using is for Universal Analytics, not GA4. That’s why it’s not tracking.

I hit this same issue last year migrating our company dashboards to GA4. Instead of wrestling with manual gtag or hunting for the right Nuxt module, I built an automation flow that handles all our analytics.

It automatically sends pageviews, events, and custom dimensions to GA4 when users interact with our apps. Also logs everything to our internal database as backup. Takes about 10 minutes to set up and works with any frontend framework.

You can trigger it from Nuxt with simple HTTP calls, or better yet, set up client-side events that automatically flow into GA4. No more config headaches or module compatibility issues.

Bonus: you can easily add other analytics tools later without touching your frontend code. Just update the automation flow.
