Has anyone else noticed the weird gap in Google Drive’s pricing plans?
I keep running into this annoying problem with their storage options. The basic 15GB fills up way too fast, but jumping straight to 2TB feels crazy expensive for what I actually need.
Here’s what they currently offer:
15GB free tier - gets full really quick
100GB paid option - okay but still fills up if you backup photos regularly
2TB plan - way more than most people actually use
What’s missing is something right in the middle. Like maybe 500GB or 1TB would be perfect for regular users who just want to store their photos, documents, and maybe some videos without breaking the bank.
I don’t need enough space to backup my entire life, but I also don’t want to constantly delete stuff to make room. It feels like there should be an option that fits between “barely enough” and “way more than I’ll ever use.”
Does anyone else think Google should add a middle tier? It would make so much more sense for people who need more than the basic amount but don’t want to pay for enterprise-level storage.
totally get it! the 100gb always feels tight and 2tb is just too much for my needs. a middle ground would seriously make a difference for lots of users. google’s gotta step up their game with a better storage option!
Same headache here for months. Stuck on 100GB and cleaning out my drive every few weeks - work docs and photos always hit the limit. The pricing feels deliberately awkward, like they’re pushing everyone to that 2TB tier when most of us just need around 750GB. I’ve started splitting between multiple cloud services to avoid paying for storage I won’t use. Really hope they fix this gap because it’s frustrating when you’re trying to stay organized but constantly maxing out.
Same problem here for two years running. Started with 100GB thinking I’d have room to spare, but phone backups and family photos ate through it crazy fast. The 2TB jump feels ridiculous when I’m only using 400GB tops. Other services like iCloud get it - they’ve got that 200GB sweet spot that actually makes sense for regular people. Google’s clearly trying to force everyone into the expensive tier instead of giving us reasonable options. A 500GB plan would be perfect and they’d probably make bank off people like us.
