Google Drive's new shortcut system: A step backwards?

Hey everyone, I’m really frustrated with the recent changes to Google Drive’s shortcut system. It feels like they’ve made things more complicated instead of simplifying them. Has anyone else noticed this? I used to be able to navigate my files so easily, but now I’m constantly clicking through multiple folders just to find what I need. It’s driving me crazy! Does anyone have any tips for dealing with this new setup or know if there’s a way to revert to the old system? I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences with this change.

yeah, i feel ya. the new shortcuts are a pain. i’ve been using tags to organize stuff instead. it’s not perfect, but it helps me find things quicker. wish they’d listen to user feedback and make it more user-friendly. google’s always changing things without warning, ugh.

I hear you on the frustration with Google Drive’s new shortcut system. It’s been a real headache for me too. One thing that’s helped me cope is using the ‘star’ feature more extensively. I star frequently accessed files and folders, which creates a quick access list on the left sidebar. This has cut down on some of the excessive clicking.

Another trick I’ve found useful is utilizing the ‘Recent’ view more often. It’s not perfect, but it does help me quickly get back to files I’ve been working on without diving through the new folder structure.

Lastly, I’ve started using more specific and searchable file names. It’s a bit more work upfront, but it makes finding things via search much easier. Still, I hope Google takes note of user feedback and makes some adjustments. The current system feels like a step backward in usability.

I’ve been grappling with the new shortcut system too. It’s definitely a learning curve. What’s worked for me is creating a more hierarchical folder structure and using descriptive names. I’ve also found the search function to be more reliable than before. While it’s not ideal, I’ve noticed some improvements in file syncing across devices. Perhaps Google is aiming for better integration with their other services? It might take time, but I’m hoping we’ll see some refinements based on user feedback. In the meantime, patience and experimentation seem to be key.
