Had the same thing two weeks ago - turned out Gmail’s spam filter was going nuts. The weird content distortion you’re seeing? yeah, i noticed that too. sometimes it’s just the app acting up, regardless of the browser. if switching devices doesn’t help, clearing the app cache and reinstalling might do the trick. also, check your net connection - sometimes that causes issues too.
