I’m using Firefox browser with uBlock Origin extension installed. I’ve tried adding custom filters to block video advertisements but they keep showing up during streams. The ads interrupt my viewing experience and I’m looking for effective methods to prevent them. I’ve heard there are specific filter rules that work better than others. Has anyone found reliable solutions that actually work? I’m open to trying different browser extensions or configuration changes. The current setup doesn’t seem to catch all the promotional content that plays before and during live streams.
Alternative players work great for this. I switched to Streamlink with VLC about six months ago - zero ads since. Takes maybe ten minutes to set up: install Streamlink, use command line to pipe Twitch streams straight into VLC or whatever player you want. You get all the same quality options but none of the ad crap that breaks browser solutions. Streams load faster too since you’re skipping all the web bloat. Only thing you lose is chat, but just keep a browser tab open if you need it.
I also faced the same problems with ads while streaming on Twitch. I’ve found that using the Twitch Adblock extension is more effective than general ad blockers like uBlock Origin, especially since Twitch frequently updates their ad delivery methods. Connecting to a VPN can help as well, as it can route your connection through regions with lighter ad loads. If you stream a lot, consider Twitch Turbo, which removes ads altogether. It’s essential to stay updated with tools specifically designed to handle Twitch’s unique ad serving methods.
Twitch’s ad detection has gotten crazy aggressive lately. I’ve had luck combining a few things - Firefox with strict tracking protection plus uBlock Origin, then adding the TTV LOL PRO extension that hits Twitch’s ad servers directly. You’ve gotta keep those filter lists updated constantly since Twitch changes their stuff every week. Weirdly, dropping to 720p instead of 1080p sometimes dodges ad triggers - no idea why that works. If you refresh right when an ad starts, you can sometimes skip the whole break, but the timing’s tricky. Last resort: use Twitch’s mobile site on your desktop browser. Way fewer ads there for whatever reason.
try brave browser - blocks twitch ads pretty well right outta the box. also heard purple ads blocker extension works decent, but haven’t tested it myself. sometimes clearing ur browser cache helps when ads start breaking through too.
Skip the browser extension mess - I automated this with Latenode.
Built a workflow that watches my viewing patterns and switches between streaming endpoints when ads start. It detects ads instantly and jumps to backup streams.
You can rotate through VPN endpoints automatically too, hitting regions with fewer ads. Way better than babysitting extensions that break every time Twitch updates.
I set different triggers for streamers since some channels spam more ads. The automation handles it without me lifting a finger.
