How to access Gmail on an older iPhone model?

Hey everyone,

I’ve decided to use my iPhone 4s as my main phone. The problem is, I really need to check my Gmail account regularly. Does anyone know if there’s a way to make Gmail work on this older device?

I’ve tried the default Mail app, but it doesn’t seem to connect properly. Are there any third-party apps that might do the trick? Or maybe some settings I need to change?

If you’ve got any tips or workarounds, I’d really appreciate the help. Thanks in advance!

I’ve actually dealt with this issue before when using an older iPhone. One solution I found was to access the Gmail mobile site through Safari instead of relying on an app. By opening Safari and navigating to gmail.com, then logging in and selecting the option for the desktop site when prompted, I was able to get full access to my account. It might not feel as smooth and can be slightly slower than a dedicated app, but it provided a reliable workaround for reading and sending emails. I also created a shortcut on the home screen for more convenient access.

I’ve been in a similar situation with an older iPhone. Here’s what worked for me: try using the Gmail mobile site through Safari. Go to gmail.com, log in, and choose ‘Request desktop site’ from the browser menu. It’s not as smooth as an app, but it gets the job done.

Another option is to reconfigure your Mail app settings. Go to Settings > Mail > Accounts > Add Account > Other > Add Mail Account. Use these server settings:

Incoming: imap.gmail.com (Port 993, SSL on)
Outgoing: smtp.gmail.com (Port 465, SSL on)

If that doesn’t work, you might need to allow ‘less secure apps’ in your Google account settings, but be cautious with this option for security reasons. Good luck!

have u tried accessing gmail thru safari? sometimes works better than apps on older phones. go to gmail.com in safari and log in. might not get notifications, but u can check emails manually. worth a shot if other methods arent working!
