Hey everyone, I’m trying to figure out how to stop my Android Gmail app from sending emails to a specific Gmail address. I don’t want to mess with the app’s code or anything like that. Is there a way to do this through my Gmail account settings?
I’m hoping there’s some kind of filter or block option I can use. It would be great if I could just add the email address to a ‘do not send’ list or something similar. Has anyone done this before or know if it’s possible?
I’ve looked through the app settings and my Gmail account, but I can’t seem to find anything that does exactly what I want. Any tips or tricks would be super helpful. Thanks in advance!
hey mate, have u tried using a browser extension? there’s some that can block outgoing emails to specific addresses. just search for ‘email blocker’ or something similar in ur browser’s extension store. might be easier than messing with filters n stuff. good luck!
Unfortunately, Gmail doesn’t have a built-in feature to block outgoing emails to specific addresses. However, there’s a workaround you could try. Create a filter for the email address you want to block, and set it to automatically move messages to Drafts instead of sending them. This way, emails won’t be sent immediately, giving you a chance to review and delete them. To set this up, go to Gmail settings on a computer, create a new filter for the recipient’s address, and choose the ‘Send to Drafts’ action. It’s not perfect, but it adds an extra step before emails can be sent to that address.
I’ve actually faced a similar issue before, and I found a slightly unconventional solution that might work for you. Instead of trying to block the outgoing emails, I created a dummy contact with the same name as the person I didn’t want to email, but with a fake email address.
This way, when I start typing the name in the ‘To’ field, the fake email pops up first. It’s not foolproof, but it’s saved me from accidentally sending emails more than once. You could even add a note in the contact like ‘DO NOT EMAIL’ as an extra reminder.
Another tip: I’ve gotten into the habit of always double-checking the ‘To’ field before hitting send. It takes an extra second, but it’s become automatic now and prevents a lot of potential mishaps. Hope this helps!
