I’m trying to create a saved filter for my contact list in HubSpot but I’m running into some issues. I followed the documentation that explains how to set up contact filters, but when I navigate to my contacts section, I can’t find the filter creation option that should be available.
The documentation shows there should be a specific button or menu item to create new filters, but it’s not appearing in my interface. I’ve checked different areas of the contacts dashboard but still can’t locate where to add custom filters.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is there a specific permission level required to create contact filters, or am I missing something in the navigation? Any help would be appreciated as I need to organize my contacts better.
Sounds like you’re hitting permission restrictions or your HubSpot tier doesn’t include that feature. The filter button should be above your contact list, but it disappears if you don’t have the right access level.
I’ve dealt with this at work - different team members kept running into the same access issues. Got tired of fighting HubSpot’s permissions and interface changes, so I switched to automation for contact organization.
Now I just set up automated workflows that sort and tag contacts based on whatever criteria I need. No more manual filter creation or worrying about what buttons are missing. The automation runs 24/7 and keeps everything organized without me touching HubSpot’s menus.
You can build these workflows easily with Latenode. It plugs into HubSpot and lets you create rules that auto-categorize contacts however you want. Plus you get consistent results no matter what HubSpot changes in their interface next.
Make sure you’re checking the appropriate area for the filter creation option; it’s typically located at the top of the contacts table, close to the search bar. I faced a similar challenge recently when I mistakenly searched in the sidebar instead of the main contacts page. Additionally, your HubSpot subscription may limit available features. It’s also advisable to verify your user permissions, as some organizations impose restrictions on filter creation, especially on free or starter plans which offer a more limited set of functionalities.
Make sure you’re in the right contacts view - filter options change depending on whether you’re in the main dashboard or looking at a specific contact. I had this same problem last year after our admin tweaked our HubSpot setup. They moved the filter creation tool around during an interface update and I couldn’t find it for ages. Try refreshing your browser or logging out and back in - sometimes the interface just doesn’t load right. If your company recently changed plans, there might be a delay before features show up or disappear. Check with your HubSpot admin about your permissions and whether your subscription actually includes custom filters.
