Hey everyone,
I’m stuck and need some help. I’ve been working on a Spotify app, but the latest update has thrown a wrench in my plans. Now I can’t find the local app option anymore.
I tried going back to an older version from the Previews section, but Spotify keeps forcing the new update every time I restart. It’s driving me crazy!
Does anyone know how to stop these auto-updates? Or maybe there’s a newer version that still lets us develop apps?
I really want to keep working on my project, but I’m out of ideas. Any tips or tricks would be super helpful. Thanks in advance!
hey dave, i feel ur pain! spotify’s been a real pain lately. have u tried using a virtual machine with an older spotify version? might work around the update issue. also, check out spicetify - it’s a cool alternative for custom mods. good luck with ur project, man!
I’ve been in a similar situation, and it’s definitely frustrating. One workaround I found was using the Web Playback SDK instead of developing a local app. It’s not a perfect solution, but it allows you to create web-based Spotify integrations without dealing with the desktop client issues.
Another option to consider is reaching out to Spotify’s developer support team. They might have some insider info on upcoming changes or alternative development paths. It’s worth a shot, especially if your app idea is unique.
Lastly, keep an eye on the Spotify Developer community forums. Sometimes other devs share unofficial workarounds or beta access to features that aren’t widely available yet. Stay persistent - the landscape for app development is always changing, and new opportunities might pop up soon.
