I’m working on an application that integrates with Notion’s API. I have a collection of page IDs stored in my local database and need to retrieve the corresponding page data from Notion.
Currently I’m looking at two approaches:
Making individual API calls to fetch each page separately using the single page retrieval endpoint
Finding a way to batch retrieve multiple pages at once
The first option works but requires multiple HTTP requests which isn’t ideal for performance. I tried using the database query functionality to filter pages by their ID property, but it doesn’t seem to support this type of filtering.
Has anyone found an efficient way to retrieve multiple Notion pages when you already know their IDs? Is there a batch endpoint or workaround I’m missing?

You need something that queues your page ID requests, manages concurrent connections properly, and handles Notion’s rate limiting without breaking. Keep it to 3-5 concurrent requests max to stay within their limits.

Ran into this same issue building a client dashboard that pulls from dozens of Notion pages. The tricky part isn’t just concurrent calls - it’s dealing with how inconsistent response times are. Notion pages load at completely different speeds depending on their block structure and what’s embedded.
I set up different timeouts based on page complexity. Simple text pages get 2 seconds, but anything with databases or heavy media gets up to 8 seconds. Also found out Notion sometimes sends stale data if you hit the same pages too often, so I throw in some random jitter between requests.
Made a huge difference - dropped from 30+ seconds for 20 pages down to about 8 seconds once I got the concurrency dialed in.

The trick is proper error segregation so failed requests don’t kill the successful ones. Also, page retrieval times vary wildly depending on content size and how complex the blocks are, so you really need solid timeout handling. I’d suggest a two-phase approach: first validate page accessibility with lighter requests, then pull the full content.
the notion api’s a pain for this. I just run single page calls async with 200ms delays between each one. nothing fancy, but it works without hitting rate limits. database queries are useless here since you can’t filter by page id. handle errors properly though - pages get deleted or restricted all the time.
No batch endpoint exists in Notion’s API for grabbing multiple pages by ID. Hit the same wall building a content sync service last year. Here’s what worked: use Promise.all with chunked requests. Split your page IDs into batches of 4-5, then run each batch concurrently while staying under Notion’s rate limits. You’ll need solid retry logic with exponential backoff - Notion’s pretty strict about rate limiting. I cache results locally so I don’t refetch unchanged pages later. Watch out for partial failures though. Individual pages might fail due to permissions or deletions, but don’t let that kill your whole batch.
