How to fix Figma text with no fill after accidental style change?

Help! My Figma text is acting weird.

I was working on a project and accidentally hit some keys. Now all my text elements look strange with no fill. It’s like they’re invisible outlines.

The weird part is this problem follows me to new projects too. I can change the font family and style, but the text always stays see-through. I’ve tried undoing everything, but it’s still messed up.

Does anyone know how to get my text back to normal solid black? It’s driving me crazy and making it impossible to work. Is this a Figma bug or did I mess up some setting?

I’d really appreciate any tips to fix this. Thanks!

I’ve encountered this issue before, and it can be quite frustrating. From my experience, it sounds like you’ve inadvertently changed a global text style setting. To fix this, try going to the ‘Assets’ panel and locating your text styles. Look for any that appear to have no fill. Select them and adjust the fill properties back to normal.

If that doesn’t work, another approach is to check your ‘Preferences’ under the Figma menu. There might be a setting affecting text rendering across all projects. I once had a similar problem that was resolved by resetting my preferences to default.

Lastly, if all else fails, consider reaching out to Figma support. They’re usually quite helpful and might be aware of any recent bugs causing this behavior. Good luck sorting it out!

I’ve run into this exact problem before. It’s likely you’ve accidentally modified a global text style. Here’s what worked for me:

Go to the Design panel and check your text layers. Look for any that have a ‘strikethrough’ icon next to the style name. This indicates a local override.

To fix it, right-click on the text layer and choose ‘Reset to Text Style’. This should restore the original fill.

If that doesn’t work, try creating a new text style with the correct fill and applying it to your problematic text elements.

Remember to check both your local and team libraries for any unintentionally modified text styles. Sometimes the issue can originate there.

Hope this helps you get back on track with your project!

yo alex, sounds like u accidentally toggled the text fill off. happens to me too sometimes lol. try this: select ur text, go to the fill option in the right sidebar n click the lil checkbox next to it. that should bring back the solid text. hope it helps bro!

I’ve dealt with this exact issue before, and it’s a real pain. What worked for me was resetting the Text Styles in Figma. Go to the Assets panel, find the Text Styles section, and right-click on each style. Choose ‘Reset to Library’ or ‘Reset Instance’ depending on your setup. This should restore the default fill for all text elements using those styles.

If that doesn’t solve it, try creating a new file and importing your assets. Sometimes Figma’s local cache can get corrupted, causing weird behavior across projects. A fresh start often fixes these quirks.

Also, check your keyboard shortcuts. You might have accidentally assigned a shortcut that toggles text fill on/off. I once did this and it drove me crazy for days until I figured it out.

Lastly, if nothing else works, reach out to Figma support. They’re usually pretty quick to respond and can often spot issues we might overlook. Good luck sorting it out!

hey alex, try this: go to ur text layer properties n look for the ‘Fills’ section. if its empty, click the ‘+’ icon to add a new fill. choose a color n set opacity to 100%. that should fix it. if not, maybe reset ur figma preferences or reinstall the app. good luck man!
