Hey everyone,
I’m struggling with our JIRA Agile Board setup. We’ve got a bunch of tickets marked as ‘done’ or ‘completed’, but now we need to make changes to them. The problem is, our team members can’t seem to edit these tickets or move them back to ‘in progress’ status.
Is there a way to unlock these finished tickets? Maybe some setting I’m missing? It’s causing a bit of a headache for our workflow.
Anyone have experience with this? Any tips or tricks would be super helpful. Thanks in advance!
I’ve dealt with this in my previous role. The key is usually in the workflow configuration. Go to your project settings and check the ‘Workflow’ section. Look for transitions that allow moving from ‘Done’ back to active statuses. If they’re missing, you’ll need to add them.
Also, consider your board’s column configuration. Sometimes the ‘Done’ column is locked down. You can adjust this in the board settings under ‘Columns’.
If neither of these work, it might be a permissions issue. Double-check that your team has the necessary rights to modify completed tickets. You might need to consult with your JIRA admin on this.
Just be cautious about frequently reopening completed tickets – it can mess with your metrics and reporting. Sometimes it’s better to create new, linked tickets instead.
I’ve encountered this issue before, and it can be frustrating. The solution often lies in your JIRA workflow configuration. Check your project settings and look for ‘Workflow Schemes’. You might need to adjust the transitions allowed for completed tickets.
Another approach is to review your board’s column configuration. Sometimes, the ‘Done’ column is set to prevent further changes. You can modify this in the board settings.
If these don’t work, it might be a permissions issue. Ensure your team has the right access levels to modify completed tickets. You may need to speak with your JIRA admin to adjust these settings.
Remember, allowing changes to completed tickets can impact reporting accuracy, so use this capability judiciously. It’s often better to create new tickets linked to the completed ones rather than reopening old issues.
