How to monitor a specific external event page in HubSpot campaigns?

Hey everyone! I’m trying to figure out how to track a particular landing page for our events in HubSpot campaigns. We use a different CMS for these pages, but we want to see how many people visit each event page.

Right now, we can only add whole domains to HubSpot campaigns. This gives us all the traffic for that domain, but we need data for just one page (like oursite.com/coolevent).

I was wondering if tracking URLs might work for this? It would be awesome to have this info right in the HubSpot campaign we’re running.

Has anyone done something like this before? Any tips or tricks would be super helpful! Thanks in advance for your ideas!

As someone who’s dealt with this exact issue, I can tell you that using HubSpot’s tracking code on your external event page is a game-changer. Here’s what I did:

I added the HubSpot tracking code to the specific event page on our external CMS. This allowed HubSpot to recognize and track visits to that particular page.

Then, I created a custom event in HubSpot that triggers when someone visits that URL. This way, I could see exactly how many people were hitting our event page, right within the HubSpot campaign.

It takes a bit of setup, but it’s worth it. You get precise data on your event page visits without the noise from the rest of the domain. Plus, you can tie these visits directly to your HubSpot contacts, which is invaluable for follow-ups.

Just make sure you’re comfortable with adding external code to your event pages. If you’re not tech-savvy, you might need to rope in a developer. But trust me, the insights you’ll gain are well worth the effort.

I’ve encountered a similar challenge with external event pages and HubSpot campaigns. One effective workaround I’ve used is implementing UTM parameters on the specific event page URL. By creating a unique UTM code for each event page, you can track visits within HubSpot’s campaign analytics.

To set this up, add UTM parameters to your event page links (e.g., oursite.com/coolevent?utm_source=hubspot&utm_medium=campaign&utm_campaign=coolevent2023). Then, in HubSpot, create a custom report that filters for these specific UTM parameters.

This method allows you to isolate data for individual event pages within your HubSpot campaign, providing more granular insights without needing to track the entire domain. It’s not a perfect solution, but it’s been quite effective in my experience for similar scenarios.

hey there! i’ve dealt with this before. what worked for me was using google tag manager. you can set up a tag that fires only on your specific event page url. then connect that to hubspot’s tracking. it’s a bit techy, but once it’s set up, you’ll get the exact data you need right in your campaign. good luck!
